Keep Your Pups Safe This Halloween!

🎃 Tips from Debbie Sagorin, your Irvine Realtor & pet-loving neighbor 🐾

Halloween in Irvine is full of excitement – costumes, candy, and community fun, but it can also be stressful and even dangerous for our furry friends. Before the trick-or-treaters start arriving, here are a few simple ways to keep your dogs happy and safe:

1. Candy is for Kids, Not Canines

Chocolate, gum, and sugar-free treats (especially those containing xylitol) can be toxic to dogs. Keep all candy bowls and treat bags out of paw’s reach, and remind kids not to share their goodies.

2. Create a Quiet Space

Doorbells, costumes, and crowds can cause anxiety. Set up a cozy, calm spot with familiar toys and soothing music so your pup feels secure.

3. Check the Costumes

If you dress up your dog, make sure the costume isn’t too tight or restrictive. Avoid anything that limits movement, vision, or breathing – and never leave them unsupervised while dressed up.

4. Be Mindful of Decorations

Curious noses can get into trouble! Keep candles, fake cobwebs, and glow sticks safely out of reach to prevent burns or ingestion.

5. ID Tags & Microchips Matter

With doors opening frequently for trick-or-treaters, even well-trained pets can slip out. Double-check your dog’s collar and ID tag before the festivities begin.

Halloween is meant to be fun for the whole family …. furry ones included. With a little planning, you can enjoy the night while keeping tails wagging safely!

🐶 Happy Halloween from your Irvine Realtor who loves helping both people and pets find their perfect homes!
